Case study – Engineering / infrastructure
Taking over and running SEMPx, a large-scale engineering platform
SEMP needed a new partner to take over the maintenance and ongoing development of SEMPx – a highly complex, large-scale platform for managing major engineering projects. We got up to speed fast, took control of the infrastructure and licensing, and became the team that keeps it running and moving forward.

What we inherited
SEMPx is a large, sophisticated platform that major engineering programmes rely on. SEMP needed to move its maintenance and ongoing development to a supplier who could take on real complexity – not just keep the lights on, but understand the system deeply enough to keep developing it – and do so at the pace the platform demands.
What we did
We got quickly up to speed on how the system is built – on the ABP.io framework – and, just as importantly, on the Azure infrastructure and DevOps processes underneath it. Working closely with SEMP, we took control of the deployment pipelines and transferred the ABP licensing across to SEMP, so that the platform, its infrastructure and its licensing all sit properly under the client’s control. From there, we’ve continued both to maintain the platform and to develop it further.
Where it is now
SEMPx is maintained and actively developed by a team that understands it thoroughly, running on infrastructure and licensing the client fully controls. What could have been a risky handover of a complex system has become a stable, ongoing development partnership.
